Pope Benedict XVI set to resign soon.

 

 The spiritual head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Benedict XVI, has announced that he would resign on February 28th, 2013.

This announcement was made through the Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi who also said that the reason for the resignation as sited by the Pope is "Advanced age".

“After having repeatedly examined my conscience before God, I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry,” wrote Pope Benedict XVI in a declaration to the public."
